Panaji: Chief Minister Digambar Kamat inaugurated the 5th edition of the four-day South Asian Film Festival (SAFF) Goa 2010 here on Friday. It is a joint initiative of the South Asian Foundation (SAF) and the Goa Government.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs and Deputy Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Ajit Gupte, Goa Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava, SAFF Secretary General Rahul Barua, ESG CEO Manoj Srivastava, Festival Director Ramiza Akhtar, Commissioner NRI Affairs and the former External Affairs Minister Eduardo Faleiro, and prominent filmmakers were among those present. Mr. Kamat said that the Goa Government wanted to develop Goa as a destination of various festivals.
Over 50 films will be screened at the festival from the South Asian countries. The country in focus at SAFF Goa-2010 is Afghanistan.
