Milestone of India - Brahmostavam at Tirumala - Thousands witness Golden chariot procession for Lord Balaji.

TIRUMALA: Religious ecstasy marked the procession of ‘Golden Chariot' organised on Thursday in connection with the ongoing nine-day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.
The processional deity of Lord Malayappa flanked by his two divine consorts on either side mounted atop the exquisitely decorated Golden Chariot was dragged around the mada streets encircling the sacred shrine. Tens of thousands of devotees witnessed the colourful procession organised in the evening twilight.

The 28 feet high golden Chariot was tastefully decorated with large varieties of aromatic flowers and was colourfully illuminated. As the light fainted out in the evening the dazzling golden chariot which stood as a beacon given the glittering of its yellow metal, slowly rolled down conspicuously along the mada streets providing much needed feast to the eyes of the congregated devotees.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan along with wife Vimala Narasimhan participated in the procession .
The Governor who was traditionally dressed in a white dhoti sporting a ‘Tilakam' on his forehead stayed back till the conclusion of the procession that lasted for over an hour.

Earlier, the day began with the procession of Hanumantha Vahanam around the sacred shrine.
After the religious formalities inside the temple, the day ended with the procession of ‘Gaja vahanam'.
