RAJAHMUNDRY: The Ganesh Navaratri began with pomp and gaiety in with the installation of a large number of idols in Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Anaparti and all other major towns in East Godavari.
A 25-feet tall Ganesh idol installed in Rajahmundry is eye-catching, followed by the 23-feet tall idol at vegetable market.
Idols in different postures, like Ganesh taking rest made up of has been sand put up by Hotel River Bay and titled it as “Athidi Devo Bhava” is attracting hundreds of visitors . Currency Ganesh at Anaparthi is another attraction in the district .
Lord Vinayaka made of corns in Lakshmivarapupeta by Vridhi-Sidhi shop owners is drawing crowds in Rajahmundry. Chiranjeevi Bus Shelter Auto Stand owners have installed very attractive also installed Ganesh idol, besides Income Tax Office idol shows Ganesh carrying his mother Goddess Parvathi on his head. and idols of Shiva and Vishnu on either side.
Ganesh resting on cow, lion, moving on rat, dance posture, maharaja Ganesh, Chaturbhuja, Nirmalakara, Abhaya Ganesh, Varasidhi Vinayaka are some of the other idols erected all over the district.
Police have made elaborate arrangements in Rajahmundry, Kakinada and Amalapuram to prevent any untoward incident.
SPs G. Srinivas, P. Umapathi have instructed their forces, not to take any chance during the Navaratri festival and Nimajjanam.
