TIRUNELVELI: The Indian Space Research Organisation crossed a major milestone on Wednesday afternoon when Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III's core stage (L-110), powered by 110 tonnes of liquid propellants, was successfully fired for about 200 seconds at the huge test stand at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) at Mahendragiri in the district.
The static testing of L-110, which failed during the first attempt on March 5 last as it lasted for about only 147 seconds instead of the scheduled 200 seconds following a leakage in the pressure vessel, went on smoothly for about 200 seconds from 3.50 p.m.
