Milestone of India - Ganesh Festival in Hyderabad. (Andhrapradesh - India.)

HYDERABAD: From vegetables to choicest of apparel brands, Hypercity at Madhapur has them all. But what stood apart and caught the attention of visitors to this plush store in Inorbit Mall on Friday was an idol of Ganesha which came decorated with biscuits.

On the eve of the 11-day Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations commencing from Saturday, an eight-foot biscuit Ganesh was installed at the entrance leaving visitors in wonderment. In all, 18 varieties of biscuits went into the preparation of the beautifully carved idol.

Biscuits all over

Craftsmen first purchased an idol made with Plaster-of-Paris (PoP) from Dhoolpet which is famous for making idols in different representations. With the help of superglue material, they fixed each biscuit to the idol carefully. Except the sparkling crown, biscuits have been affixed all over the body.

“It took almost 12 hours for completing the process. It's indeed a different experience to present Lord Ganesha in this unique way,” the craftsmen explained adding that daily pujas will be performed during the 11-day festival.

A press release said that these idols were installed at three stores in Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad in coordination with Parle biscuits.
