Milestone of India - ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam' performed at Tirupathi.

TIRUPATI: ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam' was performed in a colourful manner at the sprawling grounds behind the TTD's administrative building here on Tuesday in connection with ‘Sravana Pournami'.

The TTD started a few years ago the practice of performing the celestial wedding of Lord Srinivasa with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi on this day when the astrologically-significant ‘Sravana', the birth star of Lord Venkateswara, coincides with full moon day. As the day is also observed as ‘Raksha Bandhan' elsewhere, the ‘Srinivasa Raksha Kankanams' (protective wristbands) are distributed to the participants as a protective guard to ward off ‘evil forces'.

Priests performed the ‘Kalyanotsavam' with the same grandeur as at the Tirumala temple, which was witnessed by a large gathering of devotees. Courtallam Siddheswari Peetham pontiff Sri Sri Siddheswarananda Bharathi gave a discourse, while TTD Chairman D.K. Audikesavulu, Joint Executive Officer N. Yuvaraj and Dharma Prachara Parishat Secretary R. Kavitha Prasad participated. ‘Raksha Kankanams', prasadam and religious books were distributed among the participants.
OM NAMO VENKATESAYA !
