VELLORE: The Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology has selected A. Sahul Hameed, Reader, Department of Zoology, C. Abdul Hakeem College, Melvisharam, for the Tamil Nadu Scientist Award 2008 under the discipline, Biological Sciences. The award was given in recognition of his outstanding research work in the field of Aquatic Animal Health.
Mr. Hameed received the award from Minister for Higher Education K. Ponmudy at Anna University, Chennai, on Tuesday.
According to a release from the C. Abdul Hakeem College, Mr. Hameed has been carrying out research work since 1990 in the field of diseases of economically important fish and shrimp. He has published 70 research articles in international journals. His research work has been funded by national and international funding agencies, to the tune of about Rs. four crore.
