KARUR: Students of Pon Vidya Mandir celebrated Onam festival by arranging an attractive Pookkalam to welcome King Mahabali on the school premises at Manmangalam in Karur district recently.
The students displayed character and imagination in arranging the Pookkalam and organizing the Onam celebrations heralding multiculturalism and social harmony.
The school principal, Chitra Sundarraman said that the institution laid emphasis on social and communal harmony and wanted to imbue these values among the students at an impressionable age and that was being reflected in the Onam celebrations. The value system instilled in students would last a long time, she added. Learning to respect each other and to treat others as good as one' own self were paramount to holistic education concept which the school tried to impart, Mrs. Chitra Sundarraman observed.
