Milestone - Young Scientist Award Presented. (Karnataka - India.)

GULBARGA: It was a proud moment for Sanjana Ibrahimpur, I PUC student, and Shubham Padshetty, 10th standard student, when they received the Young Scientist Award given to budding scientists at the district-level by the Department of Information and Technology, Biotechnology, and Science and Technology in collaboration with the Karnataka Rajya Vignyana Parishat.

Both Sanjana and Padshetty, students of Sharanbasveshwar Residential Public School, were given the award in recognition of their efforts to understanding science and technology and stimulating scientific attitude through participation and excellence in scientific events in the past three academic years.

Master Padshetty's favourite subjects are science and mathematics.

Scholarship

Master Padshetty, who secured the 27th rank in the National Talent Selection Examination in 2008-09, was awarded Rs. 2,000 scholarship every month for two years to pursue his education by the Union Government.

He told The Hindu that he had participated in a number of competitions both in the district and State-levels and also a few national competitions bringing laurels to the school and the region.

He had participated in the FIITJEE examinations conducted in Hyderabad during 2009 and secured 533rd rank in the country. He said he had also participated in the National Cyber Olympics. Studious

Like Padshetty, Ms. Sanjana is also studious and her strengths are mathematics and science.

In 2009, she secured the fourth place in the country in the Mathematics Olympiad.
