BANGALORE: Vijaya Bank reported a net profit of Rs. 173.49 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2010, an increase of 21 per cent over the previous year's
Rs. 143.38 crore. Chairman and Managing Director of the bank Albert Tauro attributed the increase in profitability mainly to the increase in net interest income. The operating profit increased by 49 per cent to Rs. 314.26 crore from Rs. 209.77 crore.
