Milestone of India - Twenty Wheelchairs Dnated to TTD-run Balaji Institute of Relief and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD).

TIRUPATI: The TTD-run Balaji Institute of Relief and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD) received 20 heavy duty advanced loading wheelchairs as donation from philanthropist Uppala Kantha Rao of Hyderabad.

The wheelchairs have been specially designed for use by the differently-abled patients at the Artificial Limb Fitting Centre attached to the BIRRD.

On behalf of the TTD, Joint Executive Officer Yuvaraj received the wheelchairs at a function here on Friday.

According to Director, BIRRD Jagadish the sporty-designed wheelchairs have unique road worthiness and could be used both indoors and on rugged roads as well.

The wheelchairs costing Rs. 9,000 each have been fabricated using 8 inch rear-caster wheels and mag wheels mounted on tubular frame for an easy manoeuvrability.
