Milestone of India - Navarathri Brahmotsavams ‘Ankurarpanam' performed at Tirumala.

TIRUMALA.: ‘Ankurarpanam' was performed amidst great religious fervour at the temple of Lord Venkateswara on Thursday in connection with the annual Navarathri Brahmotsavams slated to commence on Friday. Special rituals were performed inside the hill temple in the wee hours of today in connection with the nine-day festival.

Ekantha Thirumanjanam was performed to Lord Viswaksena – the commander-in-chief of the army of Lord's domain and other ‘parivara' deities inside the hill temple as is the religious formality in the wee hours of this morning followed by Koluvu and Panchanga Sravanam at the Bangaru Vakili inside the hill temple.

Procession

Later in the evening the temple authorities organised a grand procession of Lord Viswaksena around the ‘mada' streets. In course of the procession, he collected the ‘Putta Mannu' ( sacred earth ) required for the Yagasala inside the temple complex.

Religious formalities

After the completion of the procession and other religious formalities ‘Navadhanyams' were ceremoniously sown by the temple priests in earthern pots inside the Yagasala while a battery of Vedic pundits traditionally recited the hymns from the holy scriptures.

Arjitha sevas

Earlier jointly addressing the media persons the TTD-based Joint Executive officer K. Bhaskar and the CVSO, M.K. Singh said that the management has dispensed with the performance of all the ‘arjitha sevas' during the nine-day festival period.

Both the ghat roads will be kept opened round the clock and the restrictions on the footpath relaxed for the convenience of the visiting public.

Buffer stock

The temple administration is equipped with a buffer stock of five lakh laddus and has set up over ten free medical camps at all the vital points atop the hill town.

Drinking water facilities have been augmented all along the mada streets for the benefit of the devotees witnessing the daily processions of the Lord.
