Muslim family donates cow to a temple.
HUBLI: At a time when there is hue and cry over the imposition of ban on cow slaughter in the state, a Muslim family in Dharwad district has donated a cow to a temple.
Mehaboobsaab Peersaab Pinjar, a field assistant at Hebballi Agricultural Research Institute of University Agricultural Sciences here, is silently spreading a message of communal harmony.
In spite of being a Muslim, he worships Lord Basavanna by visiting Basava Temple every Monday. He doesn't go to work without seeking the blessings of Lord Basavanna.
His family has been worshipping Lord Basavanna for many years, a practice that was passed on by his father. When Mehaboobsaab got the job offer, he decide to be a vegetarian - a way of showing his devotion to Lord Basavanna.
As far as providing good education to his children is concerned, his dreams have come true. His eldest son, after completing MSc (marketing), is getting a job in Syndicate Bank. His youngest son is a BSc graduate. His daughter secured a government job at women and child welfare development department after pursuing BSc (home science).
Believing that all his dreams are fulfilled with the blessings of Lord Basavanna, he decided to donate a cow to Nageshwar Temple at Vanashiri village near Hubli.
He donated the cow in the presence of religious leaders on Monday. He also contributed for the construction of a prayer hall for his community.
Speaking to 'The Times of India', Mehaboobsaab said: "I was able to overcome many hurdles in my life, and most of my desires were fulfilled after worshipping Lord Basavanna. I have also got enough support from my family and my community members, who never interfered with my practices. I pray 2-3 times at home and in mosque regularly. I don't want to hurt the feelings of any community, but I want to see communal harmony in society."
Basavaraj Tegginhalli, who is working with Mehaboobsaab, feels proud that his friend spreads the message of communal harmony.
