Milestone in Bone Cancer treatment in Hyderabad. (Andhra Pradesh - India.)

Bone cancer patients treated without amputation in Hyderabad.
HYDERABAD: Orthopaedic-Onco surgeons of Kamineni Hospitals have performed limb salvage surgeries on four patients who were suffering from bone cancer. The surgeons removed the cancerous tissues from the bone and then reconstructed the limbs without amputating the affected part.

The four patients who underwent the limb salvage surgery for bone cancer treatment include Veeresh, Sudhakar, Satish and Manohar Sharma. “Amputation is not a solution. Limb salvage surgeries are common abroad but in India patients are misguided. Cancer of the bone can be treated without amputation,” says Orthopaedic-Onco Surgeon of Kamineni Hospital, Dr. Kishore. B. Reddy.
The doctors said that timely intervention, surgical removal of cancerous tissues, bone and soft tissue reconstruction along with chemo and radiation therapies can restrict spread cancer without patients being physically handicapped. Such surgeries hold a lot of promise to improve the quality of life of bone cancer patients.
