Milestone of US President Barack Obama's gesture to a Telugu Boy. (Andhra Pradesh.) (South India - India.)

HYDERABAD: A nine-year-old Telugu boy, Anirudh Ram Vegiraju recently bagged an award for academic excellence for the year 2009-10, from the United States President Barack Obama. While he was born in America, his parents hail from Andhra Pradesh and he is the grandson of senior journalist Nadimpalli Seetharama Raju.

The boy studies in Class V in French Town School in Connecticut State of the US. Apart from being good at academics, his poems were also published in the ‘American Library of Poetry'.

Among other such awards, he also got one at a children's science exhibition for his project that involved generation of power from oranges.
Lord Rama devotee
According to Mr. Seetharama Raju, Anirudh is a great devotee of Lord Rama His mother Aruna, who is an American, is a housewife, while father Vegiraju Suryanarayana Raju is a software engineer hailing from Visakhapatnam.

Interestingly, his younger sister Tanvika, who is seven years old is following in her brother's footsteps and has received a Connecticut State award in American National Language Arts.
