Milestone in Keyhole Surgery for Spine Fracture in Hyderabad. (Andhra Pradesh - India.)

HYDERABAD: Surgeons at Global Hospitals performed a successful keyhole surgery of fractured spine on a 75-year-old person Babu Rao, a press release said. Conventional spine fractures are treated by an ‘open' procedure that involves fixing rods and screws in the spine and requires long incision and lengthy recovery period.

Chief Spine Surgeon of Global Hospitals, Dr. G.P.V. Subbaiah, who performed the surgery, said that that the procedure was performed successfully and the patient is ready for discharge. Keyhole surgery, also known as minimally invasive spine surgery, can be performed within few hours and patients recover faster and can be discharged early.
Complex surgeries

“Till recently, keyhole surgeries were only used to treat common spine problems. However, modern technology has enabled doctors to perform complex spine fractures and spinal deformities by this procedure,” Dr. Subbaiah in the release said.
